Beginners Coffee Brewing Guide

With so many ways to brew coffee, we wanted to give you an easy way to start. No matter what brewing method you are using you will be able to make consistent and tasty coffee.

V60 Pour Over

Ratio 1:16 coffee to water

  • Water Temperature - 202°F

  • Grind Medium Fine

  • 30-45 second Bloom

  • 3 pours, 70-100g each

  • Swirl

  • Allow to draw down and enjoy

Aeropress

Ratio 1: 5.72 coffee to water

  • Water Temperature - 185°F

  • 35Grams of coffee Grind Coarse

  • Pour 100g of water for 30 seconds

  • Stir vigorously for 30 seconds

  • Put the filter cap on, flip the AeroPress and press into your cup for 30 sec.

  • Then top your brew with 100g of the 185°F water and drink up

Automatic Drip

Ratio 1: 17 coffee to water or 1Tbsp for every 4 ounces of water

  • Put your freshly ground coffee into your coffee maker with the appropriate filter

  • Ensure your coffee to water ratio is correct

  • Press the on button and start your brewer

  • Wait patiently

  • Wait some more

  • Oh…my coffee is ready!

  • Drink

  • Repeat

French Press

Ratio - 1:15 coffee to water

  • Water Temperature - 205°F

  • Coarse grind

  • Start timer, pour to weight ensuring all the grounds are saturated

  • At 1:00min stir the coffee breaking the crust about 5 times in a circular motion

  • Place the metal filter inside of the french press barely touching the top of the grounds

  • At 4 minutes gently press the french press all the way down

  • Allow fines to settle to preference

  • Pour and enjoy


Chemex

Ratio - 1:15 coffee to water

  • Water Temperature - 200°F

  • Medium to medium fine grind

  • 30-45 second Bloom

  • Divide the remainder of your water into three pours

  • Pour slowly in concentric circles beginning in the center while pausing in between your pours to allow the water to drain

  • Allow water to drain after last pour

  • The whole brew process should take between 4-6 minutes

  • Pour and enjoy
